Pico-Union Horror: Late-Night Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Dead as LAPD Dangles $50K Reward

A late-night walk in Pico-Union ended in tragedy when a driver struck a pedestrian, then sped off into the night, according to Los Angeles police. Surveillance stills released this week show the moment of impact on Dec. 6, 2025, and detectives say the images are sharp enough that someone in the neighborhood may recognize the driver.

According to KTLA, the deadly crash unfolded around 11:35 p.m. at Venice Boulevard and Malvern Avenue, when an eastbound vehicle hit a person who was crossing the street. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, the station reported.

The Los Angeles Police Department says a reward of up to $50,000 is available through the city’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program for information leading to the identification and conviction of the driver, and is urging anyone with information to step forward. The department also reminded motorists that California law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop, notify emergency services, and stay at the scene, as outlined by the LAPD.

Suspect and vehicle details

Investigators released stills that, according to KTLA, show a Hispanic man roughly 50 to 60 years old, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and glasses. Police describe the vehicle as a 2008-2010 silver Chrysler 300 four-door sedan with a non-working driver-side fog light and a darker shade of paint on the driver’s side door. Detectives say the suspect took off after the impact and are asking anyone who recognizes the person or car to contact investigators.
