The calm after the storm

With lots of rain, heavy Sierra snow, and low snow levels recently, our weather has been ACTIVE. However, our weekend started sunny and mild. While the sun may not stick around next week, the mild weather will: we’ll be flirting with 70 degrees in just a few days!

This past week was WET. Fresno, Madera, and Merced all picked up over 2 inches of rain, and snow was measured in feet in the Sierra Nevada from this cold storm. This was our first significant storm of the year, and it looks like it may be our last one for a while as well. There is an atmospheric river heading to California later this week, but most of the rain with it will stay in Northern California.

Highs should be in the middle 60s in the Valley on Sunday, upper 60s Monday and Tuesday, and then we’ll finish the week with highs near 70. A powerful Atmospheric River will slam into Northern California next week, but Fresno will be on the southern edge of it. We’ll see our skies turn cloudy by Tuesday, and Tuesday night will be our best chance for any rain from this storm. However, it’s now looking like just a few showers at best — and probably under 1/10 of an inch of rain for us. I’d be surprised if Visalia saw any rain at all, as just about all of the wet weather from this storm will remain in Northern California…
