Woman on mobility scooter fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in L.A.

A woman riding a mobility scooter was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Los Angeles overnight, authorities said Sunday.

According to preliminary information later confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision was reported around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Denver Avenue, which is located in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood.

The victim, described by police as a 30-year-old woman, was riding a mobility scooter when she was hit by a driver that fled the scene. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition where she later died, LAPD said.

Video from the scene showed the scooter in the middle of the roadway as police probed the area for evidence.
