EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Much of the snow that’s fallen over the past three weeks is still on the ground, and we’re in for more winter weather this weekend.
A mix of on-and-off rain, freezing rain and sleet switched back to snow as temperatures decreased Friday evening. Small accumulations are possible by Saturday morning.
Roads may become slippery, so drivers are urged to use caution. Experts say to reduce your speed, leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you, and give yourself adequate travel time.
“If your trip typically takes 30 minutes, give yourself 45–50 minutes. That way you won’t have that impulse to speed or take risks on the roadway,” AAA Northeast spokesperson Mark Schieldrop said. “There’s a lot of research about speeding and aggressive driving, and one common factor that compels people to do that is that feeling of a time pressure where people feel like they’re running late.”
