Gen Z facing ‘confidence crisis’ as new research reveals 8 keys to youth resilience

MINNEAPOLIS — New data from the 2025 National Research Study on Confidence suggests that Generation Z is currently at the epicenter of a national “confidence crisis,” driven largely by the pressures of a “comparison economy” and heavy social media use.

The study, which defined Gen Z as individuals aged 18 to 29, found that nearly half of young workers—48%—report frequently or constantly feeling “not enough.” Additionally, 47% of respondents in this age group say they regularly battle a harsh inner critic and constant comparison to others.
