Gas Station Tacos Mother-Son Spot Bringing Sinaloa Flavors to Sovana

Porfirio’s Place, a tight-knit mother-and-son Mexican counter run by Erika and Jesus Landeros, is gearing up to open this spring in the Sovana neighborhood of Spring Valley. Named for the family’s patriarch, Porfirio, the shop will draw on the family’s Sinaloa roots and is expected to serve tacos, burritos, and freshly made pozole.

Jesus told What Now Las Vegas that they are building out a compact counter inside a gas station on Rainbow Boulevard and are still working through permits. “We hope it brings people joy, and they can feel the love we put in our food,” he said. He added that Porfirio’s Place does not yet have a website or social media accounts, while they focus on finishing the space.
