Woman who hot-glued a toddler to seat at North Carolina daycare to spend 10 days in jail

CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A former daycare teacher will spend days in jail for hot gluing a toddler to their seat for not sitting still, according to court records.

On Feb. 11, 2026, Lawshawna Williams was sentenced to 10 days in prison and 6 months of community service after pleading guilty to misdemeanor child abuse. Her sentence was reduced by one day for time served, and a second charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile was dismissed as part of her plea agreement.

Williams was a daycare teacher at Concord Academy, a Christian private school.

A report from the NC Department of Health and Human Services states that Williams intentionally hot-glued a 3-year-old into their seat after the child would not sit still on Sept. 20, 2025. The child’s thighs were burned, and Williams did not tell anyone that the child was hurt, leading to medical care not being provided for about 7 hours after the incident…
