Seven Inmates First to Graduate from MAT Program

The HCSO graduated the first seven inmates from the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program at the Hamilton County Jail & Detention Center after launching the program in December.

MAT Programs in jails use both FDA-approved medications and behavioral counseling to treat opioid and alcohol use disorders, aiming to reduce withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and recidivism. This joint initiative follows more than two years of collaborative planning between the Sheriff’s Office and key partners, including Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp, Quality Correctional Health Care (QCHC), the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office, Hamilton County’s Economic & Community Development Office (ECD), and the McNabb Center.
