Gobles man charged with selling mislabeled, unprescribed GLP-1s

GOBLES, Mich. (WOOD) — A Gobles man has been charged with selling mislabeled, foreign-made drugs, including GLP-1s, to American consumers online without a prescription.

Brandon Piper, of Gobles, was charged Friday with one count of conspiracy to introduce misbranded drugs into interstate commerce with intent to defraud and mislead, after federal prosecutors say he imported prescriptions drugs, including GLP-1s, from China and sold them to U.S. customers online without a prescription.

Prosecutors allege that Piper worked for a Canadian company that sold non-FDA approved, “misbranded” drugs obtained from outside the U.S. to American customers online from about October 2023 until at least August 2024. In August 2024, he and others started another Michigan-based website, Milestone Purity, with the same business model fulfilling orders from a Holland mailing address.

Milestone Purity advertised drugs, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, which were approved by the FDA under the brand names Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro and Zepbound for patients diagnosed type II diabetes and obesity, to people without prescriptions.
