3 Cheers: MSCS bands win first place, big Powerball prize, teamwork saves dog

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — This weekend we’re giving three cheers to first place wins by Memphis-Shelby County Schools marching bands, a big Powerball winner in Memphis, and teamwork that helped save a Dyersburg dog.

Two MSCS marching bands won first place in two Battle of the Bands competitions during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the school district announced.

Whitehaven High School “Sounds of Perfection” Band won first place in the Krewe of Rex Mardi Gras Battle of the Bands competition and Raleigh-Egypt High School won first place in the Krewe of Argus Mardi Gras Battle of the Bands competition.
