As a new resident of Philadelphia, I’m slowly but surely catching onto the waves of culture, from sports to food—and believe me, Philadelphians take both very seriously.
Eagles stats and titular cheesesteaks aside, there are seemingly infinite subcultures of regional foods—from roast pork sandwiches, soft pretzels, hoagies, and, of course, “water ice” in the summer. I am from the South, where sweet regional snacks like MoonPies and Little Debbie’s reign supreme—and I was delighted to learn about an equivalent in the “city of brotherly love”: the TastyCake, formerly the Tandy Cake.
What Is Tandy Cake?
Tandy Cake is a sweet snacking cake layered with creamy peanut butter and a milk chocolate topping.
