Snow blankets region as schools, governments close

School systems and some county governments in Southern Maryland announced they would be closed on Monday as snow blanketed the region. Multiple inches of snow was forecast to fall overnight into Monday morning.

The National Weather Service said “heavy snow” was expected with accumulations between 5 and 10 inches. Northwest winds gusting between 30 and 45 mph overnight through Monday was also forecasted.
