Free snowmobile weekends open to visitors

Out-of-state snowmobilers can hit New York’s trails for free on two upcoming weekends as part of a statewide push to boost winter tourism.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced it will waive registration fees for out-of-state and Canadian riders February 27–March 1 and March 6–8.

The promotion, part of Governor Kathy Hochul’s “Unplug and Play” initiative, allows properly registered and insured snowmobilers from outside New York to ride the state’s more than 10,000 miles of trails without purchasing a New York registration during those weekends…
