Two-alarm fire damages commercial building in CBD, New Orleans firefighters say

A two-alarm fire damaged an unoccupied commercial building in the Central Business District early Sunday morning but was doused before it spread to neighboring properties, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.

Firefighters were called at 6:10 a.m. to the 600 block of South Peters Street, where they found flames erupting from the building’s roof. They called for backup at 6:17 a.m., and 53 firefighters had the blaze under control by 6:53 a.m., NOFD officials said.

No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation, according to NOFD…
