While most folks prefer to save their vacation days for summertime, I’m a big fan of winter travel. While I can’t guarantee a winter wonderland in the bayou, stranger things have happened! So if you’re looking for a quick vacation down South, we have the perfect place for you.
This cozy cabin in Louisiana is just the ticket for a cozy winter getaway right in the heart of Cajun Country. Welcome to Cajun Acres Log Cabin in Arnaudville. This isn’t your normal cabin, though. It was actually built in 2014 by Amish builders in Pennsylvania and transported down to Arnaudville by truck!
It’s a single-bedroom log cabin with all wood floors, walls, and ceilings. The craftsmanship of this cabin is second to none! Don’t worry; you still have all of the modern amenities you want in a rental, including Wifi, a washer and dryer, an Apple TV, a projector for epic movie nights, and a fully equipped kitchen to prepare all of your favorite foods.
One of my favorite amenities of this cabin in Louisiana is the pond! Guests have a lovely little area over the water to enjoy the view. This is an ideal spot for morning coffee, sunrises, and epic sunsets with your favorite beverage.
And as for things to do nearby, Arnaudville is a tiny little town of about 1,000 residents, and it’s one of my favorite winter towns in Louisiana. No visit to Arnaudville is complete without enjoying a meal at the Little Big Cup, so be sure to add this restaurant to your itinerary. Bayou Teche Brewing is also in the area, and there’s always something fun going on there.
It’s also a great home base for exploring the Atchafalaya River Basin, or even taking the epic Creole Nature Trail. If you’re one for scenic drives, you can’t top that All-American Road! It’s kind of the perfect town for a winter getaway; you’re far enough to feel like you’re in a remote area while still being close to bigger cities like Breaux Bridge or even Lafayette.
After a day of exploring Cajun Country, make your way back to this cozy cabin, sit by the indoor fireplace, and enjoy your favorite movie on the projector. Now, I can’t promise the temperatures will justify a fire, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Sounds like a perfect evening if you ask me…
