The craft beer seen in Colorado is always changing: Some open, some close, some merge with others. A brewery in Fort Collins that had been around since 2016, made the decision to become something else.
Jessup Farm Barrel House in Fort Collins Closes
One of the most unique craft brewers in Colorado, Jessup Farm Barrel House, was set inside a renovated barn that dated back to the early 1900s. The brewery, aged beers in wine, bourbon, and specialty barrels to give them unique flavors; they operated in conjunction with Funkwerks.
Changes in Operations and Health Lead to a Change in Concept
Not only did Funkwerks close its Fort Collins taproom operations in 2025, but the head brewer for Jessup Farm Barrel House had to go through a heart transplant in 2024. It seems it’s just one of those scenarios where you sit back, and roll with the changes life throws at you. So, they took the step to let go of the brewery and become a western-style saloon: Sugar Beet Saloon.

The new place will serve local beers, and have cocktails (quite different than the Barrel House;) they’ll also have food items such as pretzels, charcuterie, and paninis. I can see this being fantastic for Jessup Farm and Fort Collins; many will miss Jessup Farm Barrel House, but to have a fun place, where more than just craft beer lovers can enjoy…
