BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan announced Thursday the city will not demolish St. Ann’s, after flames devastated the school in January, saying it would cost $2 million in taxpayer dollars. The announcement has drawn reaction from city leaders and restoration experts.
“It will be our policy going forward to hold private property owners responsible for their property,” Ryan said in a press conference Thursday. “The building is going to stay in this state as we’re working through negotiations with the owners.”
