Former University of Kentucky student sues college after grand jury drops rape case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A former student at the University of Kentucky filed a federal lawsuit after a grand jury dismissed criminal charges against her two alleged rapists.

According to a complaint filed in civil court on Feb. 13, attorneys for the alleged rape victim, named Jane Doe, claimed UK failed to enforce safety regulations set forth by Title IX by failing to protect students after “repeated incidents of sexual assault and rape” throughout campus dorms.

“The underlying facts, as we discovered through our evaluation of the case, are that the University of Kentucky has had prior incidences of sexual assault and rape on campus, and under Title IX requirements, we feel that they have not fulfilled their obligations to students in order to create a safe environment for the students,” attorney Andre Regard said…
