Newark, NJ – Newark officials have posted “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” signs across the city and are warning motorists that vehicles left on designated streets will be towed during the ongoing snow emergency.
The Newark Department of Public Safety issued a traffic advisory reminding residents to look for posted signage identifying roadways subject to the no-parking restriction. Under city ordinance 23:6-2, police are authorized to tow vehicles when snow accumulation covers the street or highway.
Whenever snowfall is sufficient to blanket the roadway, parking is prohibited on major streets or designated portions of those streets. Officials said there will be no vehicle relocations, and owners will be responsible for all towing costs.
