New data shows decrease in number of fentanyl-related deaths in San Diego County

In 2022, San Diego County declared fentanyl a public health crisis. CBS 8 looked into fentanyl-related deaths in San Diego County and found a significant drop in deaths where fentanyl was either the cause or the contributing factor.

In 2022, according to County data obtained by CBS 8, approximately two people were dying each day in San Diego County from fentanyl. There were 802 fentanyl-caused deaths that year in the County.
