A fatal hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian is under investigation.
On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at approximately 8:34 p.m., deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, San Marcos Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a collision in the 100 block of North Pacific Street in San Marcos. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male pedestrian who was found deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect fled on foot toward Mission Avenue following the collision, leaving behind a white 2022 Hyundai Venue SUV. Witnesses described the suspect as a Hispanic male who was last seen on foot, northbound toward Mission Avenue. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
