Fire on Madison’s southeast side displaces family

MADISON, Wis. — A fire on Madison’s southeast side Sunday afternoon displaced a family and their dog, a fire department spokesperson said.

Firefighters were called to the 4800 block of Valor Way at around 4:25 p.m. for reports of smoke and fire in a home. Smoke was visible from outside the home when crews arrive, and fire could be seen through a first-floor window.

Spraying water through the window, firefighters knocked the flames down before entering the home. Crews then ventilated the home and performed search-and-rescue…
