WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Car thieves are getting more advanced, breaking into vehicles without having to break a window or turn a key. Instead, they are using devices that can reprogram or copy a car owner’s key fob, allowing them to unlock and steal cars within minutes.
The Wauwatosa Police Department has reported an increase in these types of thefts. The department put out a notice on its Facebook page about the recent rise in key fob hacking thefts.
