Massive fire sweeps across two parishes, pushing crews to the limit

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A fast-moving grass fire stretched emergency crews across two parishes, just hours after officials warned the public about the risk.

Caddo Fire District 4 firefighters and deputies responded to the 7600 block of Williams Road, where a small grass fire rapidly expanded into more than 60 acres, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds.

Crews from Caddo Fire District 3, DeSoto Parish Fire District 2, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office joined the effort to contain the fast‑moving blaze. DeSoto Sheriff Jayson Richardson also deployed aerial support, sending Air 1 to provide overhead visibility and assist ground crews with tracking and coordinating the fire response.

More than 20 personnel were required to bring the fire under control, diverting critical resources from other emergencies and placing additional strain on the 911 system and public safety services…
