Deadly, fiery crash closes westbound I-40 near Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A deadly, fiery crash Monday on the outskirts of Albuquerque has closed westbound I-40.

The westbound lanes are shut down at mile marker 144 due to a “serious multi-vehicle crash with vehicles on fire,” according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. BCSO confirmed at least one person died.

Deputies expect the closure to last for a while as they investigate and fire and rescue crews respond to the fire…
