COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – As Black History Month is observed across the country, Yemi Mobolade is reflecting on what it means to serve as the first elected Black mayor in Colorado Springs.
Mobolade said he is intentional about using the word “elected,” noting the city previously had a Black mayor who was appointed to serve for a short time.
“I use the word ‘elected’ because there is actually a first Black mayor. I don’t know if people know this, and he [Leon Young] served for a handful of months,” Mobolade said…
