Fire in rural Washington County torches log house, leaves 5 displaced

A four-story log house in unincorporated Washington County went up in flames Saturday, torching an RV and displacing five people, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said.

Firefighters responded to reports of flames at the rural home north of Newberg just before 1 p.m., Saturday. They found the home “fully engulfed” with flames, which spread to an RV and threatened other trees and outbuildings, the agency said. Tualatin firefighters called crews from Hillsboro and Dundee for backup.
