Two fatalities reported after tree collapses onto moving vehicle during Nor’easter in Maryland

Two people were killed and a third seriously injured after a large tree fell onto a moving vehicle in Calvert County, Maryland, during winter storm conditions on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The incident occurred at approximately 16:40 LT (21:40 UTC) along Solomons Island Road (Route 2) near Aspen Woods Drive in the Sunderland area.

According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, a large tree collapsed onto a pickup truck traveling on the roadway. Two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third individual was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a medical facility with serious injuries…
