Lily Collins to Portray Audrey Hepburn in New Film About “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”

LOS ANGELES, CA – “Emily in Paris” star Lily Collins is set to embody Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming film detailing the creation of the classic 1961 movie, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Collins confirmed the news via an Instagram post on Monday, expressing her long-standing admiration for Hepburn.

The project is being developed by Collins’ production company, Case Study Films, which she co-founded in 2022 with her husband Charlie McDowell and producer Alex Orlovsky. Collins shared a screenshot of a Deadline report on her Instagram, noting the film has been “almost 10 years of development” in the making. “Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel,” she captioned her post.

Collins has frequently channeled Hepburn in various photo shoots over the years, often sharing these tributes on her Instagram story. In a 2021 post during Women’s History Month, she affectionately referred to Hepburn as her “muse.” More recently, Collins paid homage to Hepburn’s iconic film looks in seasons 4 and 5 of “Emily in Paris,” including styles inspired by “Roman Holiday” and “Charade.”

Alena Smith, known for creating the Apple TV+ series “Dickinson,” is slated to pen the script. Smith’s adaptation will be based on Sam Wasson’s 2010 bestselling book, “Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.” Wasson’s book offers “the first complete account of the making of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s,'” revealing previously unknown facts about the cinematic classic.

The film will also be developed in collaboration with Imagine Entertainment and producer Scott LaStaiti.

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” directed by Blake Edwards and adapted from Truman Capote’s bestselling novel, follows Holly Golightly (Hepburn), a young New York socialite with aspirations of marrying into wealth. Her plans take an unexpected turn when she forms a bond with her neighbor, aspiring novelist Paul Varjak, prompting her to confront her own vulnerabilities. The film earned two Academy Awards in 1962 for Best Score and Best Original Song for “Moon River.”
