The Monday morning drive on State Route 303 in the Brunswick/Hinckley area went sideways in a hurry, as snow and slick pavement triggered a string of crashes that shut down a key stretch of the road. The east-west segment between River Road and State Road was closed for roughly an hour after several vehicles slid into ditches or wound up stuck on the snow-packed roadway. Tow crews and emergency responders moved in to pull cars free and clear the route before reopening it at 9:50 a.m. Monday while commuters were detoured around the mess.
