SARASOTA, Fla. – A welfare check at a Sarasota home turned into a death investigation Sunday morning after deputies discovered two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 7000 block of Tides Circle around 10:32 a.m. on February 22. According to investigators, a concerned friend called 911 to request the check after receiving a phone call from an individual making “unusual and worrying” comments.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies looked inside the house and spotted two injured individuals. After entering the home, they found 26-year-old Lily Z. Yard deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. Jordan M. Rouff, 40, was also located inside with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
