FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Cartel violence erupting across parts of Mexico is now directly affecting families here in California’s Central Valley.
District 27 Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria, who represents Merced and parts of the Central Valley, says her own family members are among those caught in the turmoil. Soria’s parents are currently in a town in Michoacán, where tensions have escalated following a major cartel leader’s death in the state of Jalisco.
“The Mexican army killed one of the leaders of a cartel down in Jalisco, obviously impacting flight delays, but more importantly, people from the Central Valley are stuck down there,” Soria said…
