New York City, NY — A high-impact nor’easter is rapidly intensifying off the East Coast and is now poised to slam major Northeast cities with blizzard conditions, heavy snow and powerful winds, prompting states of emergency and widespread travel alerts.
After days of forecast uncertainty, meteorologists say the storm’s track has locked in, putting New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and much of the I-95 corridor directly in its path. The system is expected to strengthen into a bomb cyclone, meaning its central pressure will drop rapidly as it intensifies offshore Sunday.
Officials warn the worst conditions are just hours away.
