‘Invasive, unnecessary and unethical:’ Lawmaker wants limits on AI surveillance at work

LANSING, MI – Michigan’s labor leaders say artificial intelligence (AI) used in the workplace can track everything from employee facial expressions to bathroom breaks, and they want guardrails.

During a Monday, Feb. 23 press conference held in Lansing, members from three labor unions joined state Rep. Penelope Tsernoglou, D-East Lansing, to announce the introduction of legislation they said would put limits on the use of AI surveillance by employers.
