Palm Beach restaurants are making martinis with more flair and flavor

Long the undisputed king of cocktails in Palm Beach, the martini, popular on the island since the 1930s, now shares the throne with all sorts of cousins.

Gone are the days of a triumvirate: wet, dry and dirty martinis.

With their key ingredients often being vodka and vermouth or vodka alone (gin martinis have their place, too), that trio is still in demand at the island’s restaurants and bars, but newer generations of sippers seek a bit more flair and flavor even if they agree with 1960s James Bond’s shaken-not-stirred proviso…
