CHARLOTTE – Some students were sent home and other were removed from a classroom after a second instance of bed bugs was identified at Charlotte High School.
Bed bugs were identified in a classroom last week, according to district officials, and students were removed from the area. A professional pest control company was called to treat the area.
On Monday, Feb. 23, another classroom had a student report of bed bugs, and all affected students were sent home, according to a statement shared on the Charlotte Public Schools Facebook page.
“The source of bed bugs often cannot be determined, as bed bugs may be found in many places including hotels, planes, and movie theaters,” Charlotte Public Schools Superintendent Mandy Stewart wrote in the post. “Even though it is unlikely for bed bugs to infest a school, Charlotte Public Schools will continue to work to identify bed bugs, provide thorough inspections of the affected areas, and conduct pest management practices.”…
