RIVERTON, Utah (ABC4) — After 20 years of waiting, the St. Andrew Parish in Riverton is finally preparing to build their new church. A $35 million basilica-style church is set to be built on a 10-acre site in the Daybreak area.
The church’s design, envisioned by MHTN Architects, will take inspiration from historical basilica-style churches and is expected to seat 800 people. The design is said to represent the martyrdom of the church’s patron saint, Saint Andrew, consisting of an eight-sided dome and a wooden baldachin over the altar.
“Our patron saint, St. Andrew, is quoted in the Bible as saying, ‘We have found the Messiah.’ That’s the premise our vision has stemmed off of: we want our building to be something that anyone who encounters it will be drawn closer to God,” said Development Director Brianna Hill.
Artist renderings for the church’s design were unveiled to the public on Monday after being first introduced to the parish community back in July…
