Portland City Council voted last week to name a four-lane overpass in Southeast Portland the Brooklyn Bridge after the neighborhood in which it is located.
The Holgate Boulevard bridge runs between Southeast 17th Avenue and 26th Avenue in the city’s Brooklyn neighborhood, stretching over the Union Pacific Brooklyn train yard. Councilor Angelita Morillo brought the resolution forward, and said her office would cover the cost of new signs. That will come out to around $2,000, officials said.
