MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home and attempted to take her child.
Deputies charged 33-year-old Justin Edward Gatch of Marion with felony breaking and entering with terrorizing to injure, misdemeanor assault on an individual with a disability and misdemeanor interference with Emergency Communication. He was denied bond due to the incident being domestic violence-related.
Deputies responded to a call about a breaking and entering with assault occurring on Jan. 27. Upon arrival, the victim stated that Gatch had broken into her home and began assaulting her after she would not let a child in the home leave with him. Gatch then assaulted another occupant in the home who was visually impaired and trying to dial 911 for help. Gatch then took the child and left the home…
