Kern could ban feeding wild animals at county parks

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Board of Supervisors is slated to consider an ordinance that would ban residents from feeding wildlife and stray cats on county property, according to the Board’s meeting agenda for Tuesday.

The ordinance proposes to make it illegal to give food or bait to any wild animal at public parks, buildings or recreational areas owned, maintained or run by the county, according to the agenda.

Those animals include coyotes, deer, squirrels, feral cats, foxes, raccoons, skunks and beavers.
