RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — Jury selection began Monday afternoon in the first-degree murder trial of Heather Hicks Auman, the Randolph County woman accused of killing her husband, longtime Seagrove firefighter Mishael James “MJ” Auman.
The process started late Monday at the Randolph County Courthouse and is expected to continue Tuesday as attorneys work to seat a jury. Once selected, jurors will hear evidence in a case that stems from a June 2022 shooting inside the couple’s home.
Heather Auman, 37, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with her husband’s death. Randolph County sheriff’s deputies responded to the home on Ridge Road on June 25, 2022, where they found MJ Auman shot and unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive…
