A major shift in Tuesday’s rainfall forecast brought down expected totals in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose as a Pineapple Express wobbled over Northern California.
Initially, it appeared that hilly parts of the Bay Area would contend with steady, light rain all day, while valley and bayshore cities were hit by passing light showers. But that changed Tuesday morning when the moisture plume got caught up north of the Golden Gate. In the updated forecast, showers were expected to drift into San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda and Contra Costa counties in early to mid-afternoon before letting up after midnight.
The North Bay mountains were still in line for up to 4 inches of rain through Wednesday morning, but downtown San Francisco and Oakland will probably end up with a tenth to a quarter of an inch, rather than the half-inch initially predicted. San Jose may not even measure a tenth of an inch…
