UWF archaeologists, anthropology students monitor Palafox construction for colonial finds

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Palafox Street in Downtown Pensacola is torn up and transforming, but beneath the pavement, there may be history.

“We are working on week eight of construction here on the ‘New Palafox’,” strategic initiatives project officer Adrianne Walker said. “Part of the city council’s policy is that we consider our effects on archaeological resources.”
