University of West Florida’s Dr. Giang-Nguyen Nguyen, professor in the UWF School of Education, was named the recipient of the Duaine C. Lang Distinguished Mentoring Award presented by the Leadership Foundation for Teacher Education. The national award recognizes Nguyen’s extraordinary commitment to mentorship within the Association of Teacher Educators.
“Throughout my journey in education, I have been fortunate to be guided by many individuals. Some have left this life, but they still influence the work I do,” said Nguyen. “Mentoring is a mutually beneficial relationship: each party gains as we share. I accept this award not just for me, but on behalf of all mentors and mentees. I have had great mentors here at UWF and outside of UWF. I have learned from the best and will continue fostering mentorship. I believe that if every mentee gives back by developing into a mentor for a future student, mentorship becomes the gift that keeps on giving.”
