ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) is set to honor the March 7, 1965 march for voting rights with a service on Sat., March 7 at 1 p.m.
The local SCLC says the commemoration will remember the peaceful march that started in Selma, Al. and “the violent attack by police that ensued against the marchers on the Edmund Pettus Bridge.”
