Home struck by gunfire in targeted shooting overnight in south Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating after a south Toledo home was struck by gunfire overnight.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 3200 block of Escott Avenue, near South Detroit Avenue in south Toledo. Dozens of spent casings were visible on the street in front of the home.

The shooting was not a drive-by, police said, and a pistol and rifle were used to fire shots into the home intentionally. No one was inside the home at the time, but a caged dog was almost struck by bullets that pierced the front walls. A stove was struck and gas line was severed by the gunfire, with Columbia Gas responding to the scene afterward…
