Liverpool CSD points to rising health insurance costs for increased school budget proposal

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. — The Liverpool Central School District is proposing a $20 million increase for the 2026-27 school year budget.

In a school board of education meeting Monday, February 23, district leaders unveiled the first draft budget for the upcoming school year. Throughout the meeting district leaders outlined a number of categories they are seeing increased expenses for, one of the most impactful being the rising cost of health insurance.

Specifically, the budget proposal highlights an expected overall 8 percent increase for it’s health insurance budget across the district. It comes at a time that many private industries and insurance holders are feeling the impact of higher health care costs…
