Leland proposes property tax rate cut as part of $50M budget

LELAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Leland Town Council is proposing to lower its property tax rate from 27 cents to 25 cents per $100 of assessed value — a roughly 7.5% reduction and the first cut in two years — as part of a proposed $50 million budget for fiscal year 2026-2027.

“I think with the amount of growth in Leland, I think the taxpayers deserve a little bit of relief,” said Shane McKinney, a Leland resident.
