MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Metropolitan School District has begun early planning for its 2026-27 preliminary budget to outline key priorities while maintaining long-term fiscal stability amid rising costs and ongoing state funding challenges, estimating a potential maximum cost of $38.2 million.
District leaders have emphasized that this budget development should begin months in advance to ensure thoughtful planning, transparency, and alignment with MMSD’s Strategic Framework, officials said.
