UIL state swimming: The Woodlands girls capture another championship

With a dominant showing at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Saturday, The Woodlands girls swimming and diving team added another state championship to the program’s impressive legacy.

The Highlanders, coached by Jeremy Wade, tallied 212.5 points to beat out Keller (177.5) and San Antonio Reagan (130) for the UIL Class 6A title. It marked the 13th state championship for the Highlanders, all of which have come since 1989.

The Woodlands scored a large portion of its points in the relays with two podium finishes. The team of Vicky Olivares, Kamila Akhmetova, Brooke Miller and Claire Meermann took solver in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:42.98. Meermann, Lily Wiles, Kaia Finanger and Miller grabbed a silver in the 200 freestyle relay later in the meet, clocking in at 1:34.59…
